The author was a physician and contemporary of Dr. Bates that practiced in Berkeley, California. There have been dozens of books written about the Bates method, but only a few stand out as coming from a person with deep understanding of the principles and methods involved. This is such a book, and it is difficult to find.
A letter from him to Dr. Bates is published in the March 1928 issue of Better Eyesight magazine. He then traveled from California to New York to obtain training from Dr. Bates. He taught the Bates method to patients with all sorts of eye and vision problems. He got referrals from ophthalmologists who were unable to help their patients.
Topics include:
- the nature of eyestrain
- the author's cure of his own myopia
- the psychology of glasses
- how ophthalmology (eye care) has consistently ignored what other sciences haven't
- various techniques of the Bates method, including sungazing
- case histories
- and more!
